Seton Hall Will Battle Creighton in Thursday's BIG EAST Championship First Round

NEW YORK - The Seton Hall women's tennis team has been seeded ninth in this week's BIG EAST Championship, and the Pirates will face No. 8 seed Creighton in the first round Thursday at Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C., at 9 a.m.

Seeds for the championship were determined by a committee that reviews each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.

The Pirates and Bluejays did not meet this season, one of three BIG EAST teams Seton Hall did not play. The last encounter between them came March 5, 2024 in Orlando, Fla., where Creighton was victorious, 5-2. The two teams last met in the BIG EAST Championship in 2022, when the Bluejays were a 4-1 winner.

The winner between Seton Hall and Creighton will move on to face No. 1 seed UConn in the quarterfinals Friday at 9 a.m.

The Pirates, who have 11 dual match wins this season, most in the program since 2018-19, are seeking their first tournament win since 2017, when they defeated Georgetown in the quarterfinals.
