
Eight Pirate Swimmers Land Academic All-District Team Honors

South Orange, N.J. – Eight members of the Seton Hall men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Toma Adam (Bacau, Romania), Clil Halevi (Kafar Hadranim, Israel), Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) and Sean Vizzard (Mount Laurel, N.J.) each received the distinction from the men's team. Nicole Bastian (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.), Mia Sunseri (Wheeling, W. Va.) and Amanda Zajdzinski (Mesa, Ariz.) were honored from the women's team.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. Students must post a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 and compete in at least five regular season meets to be eligible.
Adam parlayed an excellent freshman season into an even better sophomore effort with the Pirates. The Pirates' lead sprint freestyle specialist placed inside the top three at every dual meet over the course of the season. That success built up to a dominant BIG EAST Championships performance both individually and on relays. On his own, Adam finished second in the conference in both the 50 and 100 freestyles, breaking the school record in both events. Alongside his teammates, Adam starred in three school-record breaking relays at BIG EASTs: the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay. He is pursuing a degree in Business Finance with a 3.88 cumulative GPA.
Bastian remained a fixture in all of the breaststroke and IM events in her final season at The Hall. With season-best swims, she landed herself with second swims in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at the BIG EAST Championships. Bastian is pursuing her MBA with a focus in Analytics with a 3.83 graduate cumulative GPA.
Cary had the best season of his career with the Pirates across both freestyle and IM events on the Pirates' stacked roster. After multiple weekly BIG EAST Athlete of the Week wins during the regular season, he went into conference championships looking to collect multiple titles. In the relays, Cary played a prominent role in the Pirates' record-breaking 400 and 800 freestyle relays. Individually, he reached championship finals in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and and 200 IM. In the 200 freestyle, Cary claimed his first individual BIG EAST Championships win with a school-record breaking time of 1:36.04. Cary is a Business Finance & Management major with a 3.55 cumulative GPA.
Halevi continued to excel as one of the primary distance swimmers in his junior season for the Pirates. During the regular season, he claimed one win in the 500 freestyle and four victories in the 1000 freestyle. At BIG EASTs, Halevi notched a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a career-best time of 4:24.09. He also finished fourth overall in the 1650 freestyle with at conference championships. Halevi is a Business Finance and BITM Major with a 3.84 cumulative GPA.
Heim closed out her final season at the hall with a bang, earning All-BIG EAST honors with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle at conference championships. Alongside those honors, at the Bucknell Invitational midseason meet, she broke the school record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.12. Heim is finishing her degree in Counseling with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Sunseri posted a strong senior season for the Pirates. The Wheeling, West Virginia native was a reliable presence for the Pirates in IM and breaststroke events, as well as relays. At the BIG EAST Championships, she achieved second swims in three events, including reaching the championship final in the 400 IM. Sunseri is a Criminal Justice major with a 3.94 cumulative GPA.
Vizzard capped off a storied Seton Hall career by taking home the BIG EAST title in the 1650 freestyle for the third time in four years. He touched the wall with an NCAA "B" cut time of 15:09.74, just off his season-best mark from the Bucknell Invitational. Vizzard also nabbed a silver medal in the 500 freestyle at the BIG EAST Championships with a time of 4:25.15. Vizzard is a Biology major with a 3.88 cumulative GPA.
Zajdzinski's flexibility made her an integral piece of the Pirates' roster in her final season. Over the course of the season, the graduate student was the only female swimmer to comepete in all six freestyle events during the regular season. In her final BIG EAST Championships, Zajdzinski collected finals swim in two of her three events. Zajdzinski is a Social Work major with a 3.83 cumulative GPA.
