SOUTH PITTSBURG, TENN. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will play three rounds of golf at the 2025 Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate at Sweetens Cove Golf Course, March 24-26.
Â
Tournament Details:
2025 SWEETENS COVE INTERCOLLEGIATE
Host:Â Miami University (Ohio)
Location:Â South Pittsburgh, Tenn.
Course:Â Sweentens Cove Golf Course
Dates:Â March 24-26, 2025
Â
THE COURSE:
Welcome to the foothills of the Sequatchie Valley, adjacent to Battle Creek in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Sweetens Cove Golf Club is a public golf course located 30 minutes from Chattanooga in the central time zone.
Â
The course itself presents an entirely unique golfing experience in the Southeastern region of the United States in that it was conceived, designed, and built as an inland links course. Borrowing architectural inspiration from some of the game's greatest layouts, King-Collins crafted a course that is reminiscent of the original version of Augusta National according to renowned golf writer and historian, Anthony Pioppi. In his definitive account of nine-hole golf courses, To The Nines, he wrote, "Sweetens Cove…harkens back to one of the most influential golf courses ever built in the United States [Augusta National]….Collins and his partner, [Tad] King, have embraced the original MacKenzie-Jones tenets with gusto. Writing about Augusta then, MacKenzie could have been describing Sweetens today."
Â
THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Miami (Ohio), the small field includes six other teams including:Â Austin Peay State, Belmont, Bowling Green State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky and Ohio University.
Â
THE FORMAT:
Teams will play six golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
Â
THE LINEUP:
Patrick Kahanek (San Antonio, Texas) fired a 3-under-par, 69, in the final round of the 2025 Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a third-place team finish on March 9.
Â
Kahanek had three birdies and an eagle on the par-5, No. 6 hole to fuel the top Seton Hall third round. Kahanek also eagled the sixth hole in round one. For the tournament, he tied for 11th place among 100 individual golfers with a 1-under-par, 72-74-69-215.Â
Â
As a team, The Hall had two sub-par rounds for the tournament and finished the two-day event with a 3-over-par, 286-290-287-867. Three BIG EAST competitors, all finished behind the Pirates.Â
Â
THE SCHEDULE:
The field will play 18 holes on each of three days starting Monday.Â
