
Alessio Sweeps Dive Events in Pirates' Setback at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA – The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team suffered a defeat in dual meet action at Drexel on Friday night by a score of 172-127.
Silvia Alessio (Trieste, Italy) once again showed out, winning both diving events for the fourth time in as many meets so far this season. The graduate student posted a score of 291.90 in the 3-meter for her first win of the night, followed by a victory in the 1-meter with a score of 291.45. Both events saw Laura Stavila (Oakland, Calif.) record second-place scores.
The Pirates performed strongly in both distance events on the night. In the 1000 Free, Allie Waggoner (Moorestown, N.J.) claimed the top spot with a time of 10:18.48, followed by Madeleine Bachand (Raleigh, N.C.) in second in 10:27.53. Later in the meet, Waggoner and Bachand took second place and third place in the 500 Free, respectively. That duo finished behind Amanda Zajdzinski (Mesa, Ariz.), who took home the win with a time of 5:02.96.
Mia Sunseri (Wheeling, W. Va.) also captured a victory on the night, claiming the victory in the 200 Breast. The junior took home the win in a time of 2:26.10.
The Pirates would later round out the meet with a victory in the 400 Free Relay. Zajdzinski, Lea Moeller (New Lenox, Ill.), Madeline Field (Wheaton, Ill.) and Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.) combined for a winning time of 3:30.23.
The Pirates turn right back around on Saturday as they play hosts to Lehigh at 12 p.m. inside Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium.
