NEW YORK - The Seton Hall women's tennis team has been seeded 10th in this week's BIG EAST Championship, and the Pirates will face No. 7 seed Creighton in the first round Thursday at Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C., at 9 a.m.
Seeds for the championship were determined by a committee that reviews each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.
The Pirates and Bluejays were scheduled to compete against each other in Orlando, Fla., earlier this season, but the match was canceled due to weather. The last time they faced one another was March 13, 2019, also in Orlando, and the Pirates were victorious, 6-1.
The winner between Seton Hall and Creighton will move on to face No. 2 seed Marquette in the quarterfinals Friday at 12:45 p.m.
The Pirates are seeking their first tournament win since 2017, when they defeated Georgetown in the quarterfinals.
