FORT MYERS, FLA. – In what may be their final collegiate round, graduate students Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) again led the Pirates, each shooting a 1-over-par, 73, to lift the Seton Hall women's golf team to a second-place finish at the 2021 BIG EAST Championship at The Club at Gateway.Â
Â
Sager was steady throughout her final round before fading late. She was 2-under-par through her first 12 holes, but bogeyed three of her final six. Sager's 73 was her top score of the tournament and enabled her to record her seventh career top-5 finish. For the three-day event, she was the top Pirate finisher, placing fifth with an 8-over-par, 75-76-73-224.
Â
Xavier's Morgan Tinsley won the individual title, finishing just three strokes ahead of Sager.
Â
Win was even par on the front nine and alternated bogey/birdie through the first five holes of the back nine. Her fourth and final birdie of the day was on her final collegiate hole, the par-5 18th hole. For the tournament, Win tied for sixth overall, finishing just one stroke behind Sager with a 9-over-par, 74-78-73-224.
Â
Win registered a top-7 finish in all four of her BIG EAST Championship competitions. Furthermore, this weekend's performance is her 18th career top-10 finish, which breaks a tie with former Pirate Ali Kruse for the most in program history.
Â
The Pirates entered the day trailing Xavier by 14 strokes, and made a major run late, at one point, cutting their deficit to just three. In the end, The Hall came up just short, but it wasn't without a tremendous third-round effort. Seton Hall shot a 6-over-par, 294, in the final round, which was the top round of the day, its best round of the spring season, and the top BIG EAST Championship round in program history.
Â
For the tournament, The Hall finished second for the second time in its history with a 40-over-par, 301-309-294-904. The Pirates' 40-over-par is the lowest tournament total score at the BIG EAST Championship in program history, including the totals of the three years they won the event.
Â
Xavier claimed the team title at 27-over-par. Creighton finished third at 49-over-par.
Â
Senior Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) had her best round of the tournament on Sunday. She was 1-under-par through 15 holes, but struggled late, finishing the day with three straight bogeys. Still, the Pirate great totaled an impressive 2-over-par, 74, in round three. For the tournament, she tied for 11th overall with a 12-over-par, 75-79-74-228.
Â
Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) also saved her best round for last. The junior started her morning with nine straight pars, and was 1-under-par through 14 holes.  Unfortunately, Fouratt bogeyed holes No. 15, No. 16 and No. 17, but still finished with a stellar 2-over-par, 74.Â
Â
Fouratt's third-round performance pushed her up four spots in the final standings. She placed 13th overall for the tournament with a 14-over-par, 78-78-74-230.
Â
Rounding out the Pirates' lineup on Sunday was Ginevra Ricciardelli (Rome, Italy). The freshman concluded play of her first career BIG EAST Championship with a 9-over-par, 81. For the tournament, Ricciardelli tied for 18th with a 19-over-par, 77-77-81-235.

2021 BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP
Host:Â BIG EAST Conference
Location:Â Fort Myers, Fla.
Course:Â The Club at Gateway
Course Vitals:Â Par-72, 6,072 yards
Dates:Â April 23-25, 2021
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT:
It's a six-team, 54-hole, stroke play Championship. Teams competed in pairings of three. The event was conducted over four days with each team's five members playing a practice round of 18 holes on day one and one 18-hole round on days two, three and four.
Â
THE COURSE:
The 18-hole, meticulously maintained, Tom Fazio masterpiece at The Club at Gateway facility in Fort Myers, Florida which plays 7,047 yards from the longest tees with a par of 72 awaits your arrival. The course rating is 74.4 and carries a slope rating of 137.
Â
The golf course opened for play in 1989 and was immediately added to Golf Digest's list of Top 100 Courses. The recognition Gateway garnered from Golf Digest's Top 100 list earned the course the privilege of hosting the 1990 and '91 Ben Hogan Tour's Gateway Open. The Club has also hosted numerous USGA qualifiers and PGA chapter and section events, including the 2008 Callaway Golf State Pro-Assistant event, which was previously hosted by the well-known TPC @ Sawgrass.
Â
The Club at Gateway features six sets of tees, including senior tees for both gentlemen and ladies. Like many Florida courses, there is water on most holes; if that's not enough you'll also find nearly 100 sand traps. But fear not, you will also find generous fairways, dramatic stands of native cypress trees, cape cod-style bunkering, and putting surfaces that are often described as some of the finest (and quickest) Bermuda grass greens in the state. This all adds up to a well-rounded combination of playability, challenge, coupled with Fazio's signature aesthetic appeal. Tom Fazio himself rates our tenth hole as one of the top four greatest golf holes he has ever designed.
Â
THE FIELD:
For the BIG EAST Championship, the field was limited to only the six women's golf teams of the conference.  This includes (in order of Golfstat ranking): Xavier (97), St. John's (127), Seton Hall (133), Butler (198) and Creighton (196). Georgetown has no Golfstat ranking since this is the first and only tournament for the Hoyas this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
