
Sager, Pirates Place Third at Jan Weaver Invitational

MURRAY, KY. – Graduate student Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) placed third among 73 individual golfers and lifted the Seton Hall women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Jan Weaver Invitational on Saturday.

Sager had another strong round on Saturday, using two birdies and 13 pars to fuel a 1-over-par, 73. For the tournament, she finished with a 4-over-par, 76-71-73-220, only four strokes behind the individual champion, Bradley's Taylor Ledwein. The top-5 finish is the sixth of her remarkable career, which is tied for fifth-most in Seton Hall history.

As a team, Seton Hall finished the final round with a 12-over-par, 300, the second-best score of the field on Saturday. For the tournament, the Pirates placed third with a 38-over-par, 303-299-300-902, only four strokes behind the host and team champion, Murray State. Central Arkansas finished second at 36-over-par.

Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) had a solid finish to her tournament, turning in a 3-over-par, 75, on Saturday. For the three-round event, she tied for 12th place with a consistent 11-over-par, 76-76-75-227.

Freshman Ginevra Ricciardelli (Rome, Italy) finished just one stroke shy of Win and tied for 16th place in the tournament. On Saturday, she shot a 5-over-par, 77. For the two days, she was 12-over-par with a 74-77-77-228.

Both Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) and Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) tied for 28th place overall. Fouratt turned in her best round of the tournament on Saturday, using 15 pars to fuel a 3-over-par, 75. For the three rounds, she was 16-over-par with a 77-80-75-232. Kness had one rough especially rough hole in her final round, and settled with a 7-over-par, 79. For the tournament, she too was 16-over-par with a 78-75-79-232.

Frances E. Miller Memorial Golf Course presents a unique challenge for competitive and recreational golfers alike. Heralded as one of the west Kentucky lakes region's finest courses, Miller Memorial offers a variety of challenges for the most discriminating golfer.

Measuring 6,592 yards from the championship tees, the par-71 layout has two distinct nines which require a wide array of shot-making. The outward nine is set on hilly terrain and requires pinpoint accuracy from tee to green, whereas the inward half rewards length and accurate long iron play.

The longest hole on the course, the par-five 17th, is 535 yards long, while the shortest hole is the par-three 16th, measuring 171 yards. Professionally manicured MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermuda Grass Greens are surrounded by 50 sand bunkers, with three scenic water hazards also coming into play. The fairways feature automatically watered Bermuda grass.
