
Pirates Open 2021 with Encouraging Showing Against Villanova

South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's swimming team had a strong start to their 2021 season. Swimming competitively at Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium for the first time in over a year, the Pirates showed fight with encouraging swims against the Wildcats who have captured the last seven BIG EAST titles on the women's side.
In her first collegiate meet, freshman Natalie Heim picked up a first-place finish in the 50 Free. Heim was the first to touch the wall in a time of 24.51. Fellow underclassman, sophomore Sierra Cripps (Seymour, Conn.) also picked up a first-place finish in the 100 Fly with a time of 59.68.
The 100 Fly was a strong event for the Pirates with The Hall taking the top four spots. Freshmen Sarah Frie (Waterford, Va.) and Josie McCartney (Verona, Wisc.) took second and fourth while senior Amelia Wootton (Bethel, Conn.) slotted in at third.
Senior Lexi Kolodgie (Baltimore, Md.) continued her success in the 200 Breaststroke with a first place finish and a time of 2:26.51. The Pirates also finished the day strong with the top three relay spots in the 400 Free Relay.
The Pirates will be back in the pool on March 20 when they take on UConn at home in Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium.
