It's been a love-hate relationship between Seton Hall and the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Seton Hall has played 27-1/2 games (we'll get to the 1/2 in a bit) at the home arena of the Providence Friars (since BIG EAST play started in 1979) and there have been good times and not so good times. The good? Seton Hall's 13 wins all-time at The Dunk are the most in program history for BIG EAST road games. The bad? Well, of the 14 losses Seton Hall has suffered there, half of them (seven) have been by five points or fewer or in overtime. So The Hall easily could be even better in Providence.
The 1/2? Last year of course when the teams had to move the end of the game to Alumni Hall due to crazy moisture on the Dunkin' Donuts Center court. Naturally, the Pirates pulled that game out. So when you include that contest, Seton Hall is 14-14 all-time in BIG EAST games at Providence.
Any way you slice it, Tuesday's game is huge for The Hall. Capping the four-in-five on the road stretch with two road victories would be a huge boost. Winning a second BIG EAST road game tomorrow would make this the fastest that the Pirates have gotten to two conference road wins since Kevin Willard became head coach and match the fastest in program history (The 1990-91 team won its second BIG EAST road game on Jan. 15, 1991). And being 4-2 in the league sounds so much sweeter than being 3-3.
Tuesday night's game will be nationally televised on FS1 with Dave O'Brien and Tarik Turner on the call. Dave Popkin and Federal Hill's best customer John Fanta will deliver the radio call on AM970 The Answer, simulcast on XM 380 and the Pirate Sports Network.

Three Things to Know About Tuesday Night's Tilt with Providence
 1. Prepare to Rebound
The Friars lead the BIG EAST in offensive rebounding, averaging 12.3 per game. Opponents are only averaging 9.9 offensive boards against the Pirates, so it is critical that they continue to box out and limit Providence's second chances. This is also key considering the Friars take the fewest amount of three-point shots in the league, averaging 19.5 per game (Seton Hall averages 20.4 and league leader Creighton averages 27.8). Also note that Seton Hall is 7-0 when it out-rebounds its opponent and Providence is 1-5 when it gets out-rebounded.
Â
2. Free Throw Woes
You can't defend the free throw line, so you can't really do anything about the fact that teams are shooting 74.7 percent at the line AGAINST the Pirates, but you can make sure you don't foul the people who make them the most. Providence is last in the league in free throw shooting at 66.7 percent, but Isaiah Jackson is nearly an 80 percent shooter there. So, in a close and late situation, the Pirates will want to deny him the ball.

3. Another Quality Opportunity
By the metrics, this game is a Quadrant 2 game for Seton Hall, which is second in the nation in number of Quad 1+2 games played so far this season with 11. A conference road win alone is quality, but getting a Quad 2 victory will continue to boost Seton Hall's ever-growing resume. The opportunity awaits, can the Pirates cash in?
