MALVERN, PA. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to action starting Friday with three rounds of golf at the 2018 Villanova Invitational at White Manor Country Club.
Â
Tournament Details:
2018 VILLANOVA INVITATIONAL
Host:Â Villanova University
Location:Â Malvern, Pa.
Course:Â White Manor Country Club
Course Vitals:Â Par-71, 7,008 yards
Dates:Â September 28-30, 2018
Â
The Course:
Redesigned and completely renovated in 2003, highly rated course architects from Bobby Weed Design of Pointe Vedra Beach, FL created a jewel. The course re-opened to rave reviews and accolades in August 2003, winning an award as U.S. Course Renovation of the Year (Golf, Inc.).
Â
Golf Digest named White Manor's golf course as one Pennsylvania's Top 25 Golf Courses in 2015. Our course was also recognized as the #3 "Modern Design" golf course and the #14 overall in the state, by Golf Week Magazine in 2013.
Â
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Villanova, the small field includes: Appalachian State, VCU and Delaware. BIG EAST opponents Georgetown and St. John's are also competing in the tournament.
Â
The Seton Hall Lineup:
Â
Last Time Out:
Senior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) shot a 3-under-par, 69, in an interrupted second round to lead the Pirates to a third place finish at a rain-shortened 2018 Hartford Hawks Invitational on Tuesday. Yeom was brilliant, tying for second place among 112 individual golfers, and finishing just one stroke behind the individual champion, Central Florida's Bobby Bai. For the tournament, he shot an 8-under-par, 67-69-136, which breaks former teammate Lloyd Jefferson Go's two-round, par-72 record by two strokes. Go set the record at this tournament in 2016.
Â
Collectively, the Pirates fired their second straight 6-under-par, 282, in the second round, and moved up one spot to third place in the final standings. The Hall finished with a 12-under-par, 282-282-564. Connecticut finished second at 17-under-par, and Central Florida won the title at 26-under-par.
Â
Like Yeom's score broke the Seton Hall individual record, The Hall's 564 set the two-round team record for a par-72 tournament. Furthermore, Seton Hall's -12 is the second-most strokes under par for a tournament of any par in Pirate history.
Â
Tee Times:
The field will play one round each day, Friday through Sunday. Tee times begin on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in round one.
Â
Results:
Live scoring will be available during the tournament via BirdieFire. Complete results of each day's events will also be available following competition at SHUpirates.com.
