Chalk Paces Pirates to 2nd Place in Ft. Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – Freshman Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) led the Seton Hall men's golf team with a 1-over-par, 73, in the final round of the 2017 Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate to help pace the Pirates to a second place team finish.
Chalk registered his second career top-10 finish by tying for 10th among 84 individual golfers with a 5-over-par, 75-73-73-221. One of the three players that tied Chalk was teammate Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines), who added to his Seton Hall record with his 23rd career top-10 finish. For the three-round event, Go had a 5-over-par, 73-71-77-221.
Collectively, the Pirates finished second, 13 strokes behind the team champion, Richmond, which fired a 7-under-par, 281, in round three to surge to the lead. For the tournament, the Pirates finished at 20-over-par with a 293-289-302. There were no other BIG EAST schools in the field.
Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) was the top Pirate golfer for the duration of the tournament. The sophomore shot even-par for the three-round event with a 70-71-75-216. He placed fourth overall just four strokes behind the individual champion, Richmond's Keegan Hoff. It's Nagai's fourth top-10 finish in his career and his second top-5.
Sophomore Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) tied for 26th place overall with a consistent 12-over-par, 75-76-77-228, while junior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) rounded out the Pirates' team scoring with a 14-over-par, 79-74-77-230.
Freshman Alex McAuley (Douglas, Isle of Man), competing as an individual, finished his tournament at 19-over-par with an 84-75-76-235.

Built in 1957, the North Course is a classic Dick Wilson influenced track designed by Red Lawrence with all the golf components. The 18-hole championship course features undulating greens and unique bunkers that challenge golfers of all abilities. Measuring from 5,335-6,915 yards, the North Course hosts yearly member events as well as PGA, USGA, and FSGA events.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Loyola (Md.), the 14-team field included: Drake, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Hartford, Holy Cross, Manhattan, Mercer, Old Dominion, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Stetson and Tennessee Tech.
