Strike, Fajnorova Lead SHU in Sweep of Binghamton

West Point N.Y. – Junior Luize Strike (Riga, Latvia) and sophomore Anna Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) paired up for a win at No. 1 doubles and picked up victories in the top two singles spots on Saturday, as the Seton Hall women's tennis team recorded a clean sweep, 5-0, over Binghamton on Army West Point's campus.
Strike defeated Binghamton's Annie DiMuro 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) at No.1 singles, and Fajnorova dropped her first set to Rebecca Dellaway, 3-6, but rebounded with a 6-3, 6-4 set scores to complete the come-from-behind victory at No. 2 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, Strike and Fajnorova engineered a 6-2 win over DiMuro and Samara Eisenberg. Junior Katie Kim (Honolulu, Hawaii) and sophomore Thandy Kangwa (Fort Myers, Fla.) won 6-1 in the No. 2 spot, while freshmen Melody Taal (Ede, Netherlands) and Michal Matson (St. Albans, New Zealand) paired up for a 6-4 win over Dellaway and Allison Roma.
Taal registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Olga Ostrovetsky at No. 3 singles, and Matson swept Paulina Tafler, 6-0, 6-3 in the No 4 spot.
Up next, the Pirates take on this weekend's host Army West Point on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
