GOODYEAR, ARIZ. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to action this weekend with three rounds of action at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Course, February 25-27.
Â
Tournament Details:
LOYOLA INTERCOLLEGIATE
Host:Â Loyola University
Location:Â Goodyear, Ariz.
Course:Â Palm Valley Golf Course
Course Vitals:Â Par-72, 7,015 yards
Dates:Â February 25-27, 2017
Â
The Course:
Designed by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, Palm Valley Golf Club's Palms Course is one of the most popular championship Phoenix Arizona golf courses. The excellent layout provides a stiff challenge for accomplished players, yet it is flexible enough for novices to enjoy. One asset that sets Palm Valley Golf Club apart from other Phoenix Arizona golf courses is its diversity in play. The Palms Course has been rated among Arizona's best public golf courses by The Phoenix Business Journal, and the 18th hole is routinely cited by avid players as one of the best par-5s in the state.
Â
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Loyola, the field features 14 other teams including: Arkansas State, Connecticut, DePaul, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Elon, Missouri State, Murray State, Northern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville, St. John's, UT-Martin and Utah Valley. The field will also feature 15 individuals.
Â
The Seton Hall Lineup: Individual – Linus Yip
Individual – Alex McAuley
Â
Last Time Out:
The Pirates are coming off a second place showing at the spring season-opening Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play event in Dade City Florida. The Pirates won their matches against Toledo and Miami (Ohio) before falling to Notre Dame in the championship match.  Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe
Cebu City, Philippines) was the lone Pirate to win all three of his matches. Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland), Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) and Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) each won two of their three matches.
Â
Last Time at the Loyola Invitational:
The Pirates competed in this event last year and finished seventh with a 25 strokes behind the team champion, Arkansas State. For the tournament, the Pirates finished with a 6-under-par, 279-287-292-858, which shatters Seton Hall's previous record for a three-round, par-72 event.
Â
Leading the way for Seton Hall for the tournament was Go, who shot even-par in the final round to tie for fourth place among 104 individual golfers. For the three rounds, Go was 9-under-par with a 66-69-72-207, which sets a new Seton Hall record for lowest three-round, par-72 score. The previous low was a 210 set by Eugene Smith at the Pepsi Intercollegiate in 1998.
Â
Tee Times:
The field will begin with a shotgun start on all three days at 10:45 AM ET. For the first round, the Pirates will be paired with golfers from Eastern Michigan, Arkansas State and Loyola.
