CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Donnaizha Fountain (Roxbury, Mass.) put on a show in front of her hometown crowd to lead the Seton Hall women's basketball team (7-2) to a 73-53 victory at Boston College (4-6) on Sunday afternoon at Conte Forum. Playing in the greater Boston area for the first time in her collegiate career, Fountain went for 21 points and 10 rebounds to pace The Hall to its second road win over an ACC foe this season.
The Pirates led wire-to-wire in the triumph, out-scoring the Eagles in all four quarters of a balanced win. In support of Fountain, JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) poured in 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting from deep. Kaela Hilaire (Queens, N.Y.) stuffed the stat sheet with six points, four rebounds, two steals and a season-high eight assists in her first start of the season.
Turning Point
The Pirates took a fast lead but suffered a sluggish stretch towards the end of the first quarter before a Jackson 3-pointer at the end of the frame made it 14-11 after one. The Hall then burst out of the gates in the second quarter, opening the period on an 11-0 run to go up by double-digits. The Pirates were able to keep that double-digit advantage nearly the rest of the way.
Inside The Numbers
The Pirates have a week off for finals before returning to Walsh Gym on Sunday, Dec. 17. The Hall will welco`me a top-10 foe in No. 7 UCLA for a 1 p.m. tip.
