9/11/2016 6:48:00 PM | Women's Cross Country
Newark, Del. - Junior Emily Johnson (Wildwood Crest, N.J.) headlined the Seton Hall women's cross country team's day at the Delaware Invitational, coming in 14th out of 100 runners Saturday as the Pirates had three of their four competitiors finish in the 6K race's top 25. The competitors were challenged by the hot and humid weather of the morning, which also forced the cancellation of the men's cross country race.
Held at White Clay Creek State Park just north of Delaware's campus, Johnson was just 16 seconds away from a top-10 finish, running the race in 24:47.93. Right behind her was teammate and sophomore Kiley Britten (Crystal Lake, Ill.), who checked in at 24:57.07, good for 15th place.
Freshman Kassandra Yocco continued her strong start to her collegiate career, finishing 25th in the race with a time of 25:40.23. Last week at Monmouth, she placed 15th in the 4K race with a time of 15:30.59.
Sophomore Olivia Gregorio (Kingston, Pa.) closed out The Hall's day with a 47th place finish at 27:35.83.
The Hall heads south next weekend for the Embry-Riddle Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla.
