Rutkowski Headlines Three Top-15 Runs at Lafayette

Easton, Pa. -Â Christiana Rutkowski (Middletown, N.J.) continued her strong season and push towards the conference championship as she finished seventh at the Leopard Invitational to headline three members of the Seton Hall women's cross country team to finish in the race's top 15 Saturday at Lafayette College. The Pirates placed fourth in the 6K event as a team.
Rutkowski finished first among the Pirates for the 12th time in 13 races in her collegiate career, clocking in at 23:30.78. In her first 6K race of the season, she was only 1:03 off her personal collegiate best, and she was only 1:13 off the winning pace of the race, taken by Temple's Grace Moore.
Only 11 seconds behind Rutkowski was sophomore Kiley Britten (Crystal Lake, Ill.), who has finished in the top-two among her teammates in 12 of the 13 collegiate races she has run. Her time of 23:41.06 was good for 10th overall, her second top-10 finish of the season.
Senior Desyre Blackburn (Aloha, Ore.) delivered a strong performance, finishing 13th overall and third among the Pirates with a time of 24:12.83. Freshman Kassandra Yocco (Bethlehem, Pa.), competing near her hometown, stayed consistent and scored for The Hall for the fifth straight race. Her time of 24:53.35 was good for 24th overall. Junior Emily Johnson (Wildwood Crest, N.J.) completed Seton Hall's scoring with a 36th place finish and a time of 25:38.48.
The Pirates will now train for the next two weeks in preparation for the 2016 BIG EAST Championship, to be held on Friday, Oct. 28 at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx. The BIG EAST Digital Network will have full coverage of the races.
