Bronx, N.Y. - Sophomore Kiley Britten (Crystal Lake, Ill.) led all Seton hall women's cross country runners with a 6K race time of 23:59.7 at the 2016 BIG EAST Championship, held at Van Cortlandt Park. Britten has now finished first among her teammates at both conference championship appearances. She and the Pirates placed 10th as a team.
Britten has among the top four Pirates to cross the finish line in all six races this season, including either first or second in each of the last five competitions. She also was the first to cross the finish line a few weeks ago at the 5K Metropolitan Championship, which was also run at Van Cortlandt Park.Â
Junior Christiana Rutkowski (Middletown, N.J.) was just five seconds behind Britten at 24:04.5 and finishing second among her teammates. She has now placed in the team's top three in all five races she's competed in this year and has placed in the top three in all 12 races of her collegiate career.
Junior Emily Johnson (Wildwood Crest, N.J.) just barely missed a season-best 6K time, finishing the race in 24:48.9, which was just one second off her time at the Delaware Invitational, which she ran under very hot temperatures. She has scored for The Hall in all six races this season.
In her final BIG EAST Championship race, senior Desyre Blackburn (Aloha, Ore.) scored for the Pirates for the fifth time season, clocking in at 25:05.6.
Freshman Kassandra Yocco (Bethlehem, Pa.) proved she was among the team's best all year long as she scored for the sixth consecutive race with a time of 25:43.9.
The Pirates will begin preparations for the NCAA Regional Championship Nov. 11 in State College, Pa.
