Capone, Ouellette Pick Up Indiv. Wins vs. Bucknell

South Orange, N.J. - Freshmen Clara Capone (West Hartford, Conn.) and Sara Ouellette (Granby, Conn.) each won individual events, and Capone was part of a winning 200 medley relay squad as the Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team competed against Bucknell, falling to the Bison, 168-107, Sunday at Imperatore Natatorium.Â
Capone continued her very strong start to her collegiate career. First she teamed with sophomore Aitana Robinson (London, Ontario), freshman Jordan Decker (Mason, Ohio) and junior Sydney Simpson (Tallahassee, Fla.) to capture the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:49.63, three-tenths of a second ahead of Bucknell's A relay squad. Capone raced a 24.53 freestyle leg. She then won the 50 freestyle in 24.79, surpassing her winning time of 25.22 from Saturday's meet vs. Providence.
Ouellette won another 200 backstroke event, claiming victory with a time of 2:05.47, just barely touching ahead of Bucknell's Emma Hadley, who came in at 2:05.49. She took improved upon her 200 back time from Saturday's race, which was 2:06.10.
The Pirates also received three runner-up performances on the day. Freshman Jillian Calocino (Maywood, N.J.) was strong in the distance events, placing second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:42.86 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:15.99. Freshman Elizabeth Sargent (Trumbull, Conn.) was second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.43.
Seton Hall will head to in-state rival Rutgers on Friday to compete in a quad meet against the host Scarlet Knights and BIG EAST foes Georgetown and Villanova.
