11/5/2015 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team dropped its 2015 finale to Villanova by a score of 3-2 in overtime on Thursday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll Field. The Pirates (0-15-1, 0-9-0 BIG EAST) got goals from Spencer Burkhardt (Palmyra, Pa.) and Julian Kennedy (Nindorf, Germany) in the setback.
Two first-half goals gave The Hall a 2-0 lead at the break, which it held until Villanova (9-8-0, 4-5-0) struck twice in a span of less than a minute in the 77th and 78th. That forced an extra period, and six minutes into overtime Sean Sheridan struck for his second of the game to lift the Wildcats to a golden goal victory.
The Pirates held a 22-15 edge in shots for the match, firing a season-high in attempts led by Samuel Geiler (Offenburg, Germany) with six. Geiler also assisted on both Pirate goals, rounding his total to three for the season.
Turning Point
In a span of 59 seconds starting at 76:37, Villanova scored twice to erase a 2-0 deficit and tie the match. Sheridan notched the first goal with a header off a corner kick, before Max Kroschwitz tallied off a long throw-in for the second.
