
WGolf Finishes Fifth at Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) and Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) finished at 15-over-par to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to a fifth place finish the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club.
Zabrosky started off the tournament in sparking fashion with a 2-over-par, 74, but ballooned to an 8-over-par, 80, in round two. Today, she finished with a 5-over-par, 77, to end the three-round event with a 74-80-77, 231. Kruse was just the opposite, starting with an uncharacteristic 80 and improving to a 74 in round two before finishing with a 77 on Sunday. She ended the event with an 80-74-77-231. Both players tied for 17th among 69 individual golfers.
Collectively, Seton Hall started with a 17-over-par, 305, in round one and then had a pair of identical 23-over-par, 311's, in rounds two and three. For the three round event, the Pirates finished at 63-over-par with a 305-311-311-927. They finished 31 strokes behind the team champion, Yale.
By placing fifth, the Pirates' have registered top-5 finishes in all of their tournaments this season, a first in program history.
"One of our goals entering the fall was to finish in the top-5 in all five of our fall tournament," said head coach Sara Doell. "I'm really happy that we were able to accomplish that goal. We continue to take small steps forward as a program and this fall we were able to live up to expectations that we set for ourselves."
Freshman Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) finished just one stroke behind her teammates in a tie for 21st place. She shot an impressive 2-over-par, 74, in round one, and followed it up with a 5-over-par, 77, in round two. On Sunday, Pantelas struggled a bit, settling with a 9-over-par, 81. For the three rounds, she finished at 16-over-par with a 74-77-81.
Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) had the best round of the day for Seton Hall. The junior shot a 4-over-par, 76, in Sunday's final round. She finished the three-round event with a 20-over-par, 80-80-76-236.
McKenzie Cutter (Waldorf, Md.) rounded out the Pirates' scoring with a 28-over-par, 77-83-84-244.
In addition to Princeton and Seton Hall, 10 other teams made up the field at the par-72, 6,128-yard course. The teams included Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Delaware, Lehigh, Navy, Penn, Rollins, St. John's and Yale.
This concludes a highly successful fall season for the Pirates.
