BETHLEHEM, PA. - Junior McKenzie Cutter (Waldorf, Md.) and sophomore Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) each shot a 5-over-par, 77, to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team in Monday's final round of the 2013 Lehigh University Invitational. As a team, the Pirates finished third.
Collectively, Seton Hall finished the tournament with a 41-over-par, 306-311-617, to place third among the field of nine teams. The Pirates finished 17 strokes behind the team champion, Harvard, and five strokes behind Princeton for second place. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Georgetown, finished in a tie for fourth place 16 strokes behind the Pirates.
Juniors Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) and Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) were the top Seton Hall performers over the two-day event. Both tied for fourth among 47 individual golfers with an 8-over-par, 152. Kruse had a 74-78-152. It's her 10th, top-10 finish, and sixth, top-5 finish, both of which are Seton Hall career records. McClure tallied a 73-79-152. Her first-round 73 was the lowest single-round for a Seton Hall golfer this weekend. McClure's finish is her team-best third top-5 of the fall season. Both finished 10 strokes behind the individual champion, Princeton's Kelly Shon.
Tenhundfeld had her best tournament of the fall with a 9-over-par, 76-77-153, and tied for ninth overall.
Sophomore Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) finished with a 19-over-par, 83-80-163, while Cutter completed the tournament with a two-round total of 23-over-par, 90-77-167.
"With every tournament we continue to grow and mature as a team," said head coach Sara Doell. "Certainly we would have liked to have finished higher this weekend, but we came in behind two very talented programs, so I'm comfortable with third place. I'm excited where we are as a program heading into the winter and I truly believe good things are in store for us this spring.
