Marteese Robinson
- Induction:
- 2002
Marteese Robinson, whose No. 9 is retired at Seton Hall, had one of the greatest seasons in collegiate baseball history. In 1987, he was named the NCAA National Co-Player of the Year after leading the country in hitting with a .529 average, which at the time was the second-highest batting average of all time with 90 RBI and 56 stolen bases. His efforts helped the Pirates to a 45-10 record and the program’s first-ever BIG EAST Tournament championship. At the time of his induction, his career .423 average ranked 10th best in college baseball history. Selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 1987 MLB Amateur Draft, Robinson spent four years in the minor leagues, moved into law enforcement and then re-entered baseball as a scout.
