NEW YORK – Seton Hall junior Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) was named BIG EAST Male Co-Golfer of the Week on Thursday.
Â
Hennessee won his first career individual title on Tuesday claiming the championship of the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational. He showed his championship grit late in the final round. Leading by three strokes, the junior shot a 4-over-par, 7, on the 17th hole, which put him into second place entering the final hole. On the 18th, however, Hennessee regrouped, and collected a birdie on a long putt to pull into a tie for first place and collect a share of the individual title. For the round, he had four birdies and an eagle on the par-5, No. 8 hole to fuel a 2-under-par, 70.
Â
Hennessee finished the tournament with a 5-under-par, 69-72-70-211. Remarkably, it's the third time in four tournaments this fall that he has shot 5-under-par for a tournament. Hennessee now has eight sub-par tournaments for his career, which is tied for fifth-most in program history.
Â
Hennessee and the rest of the Pirates will return to the course for three rounds of golf at The Bryson Invitational at Trump National Dural in Miami, Oct. 12-14.
