
MVP Reich Fuels Potent Pirates Offense in Sweep

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Freshman Sadie Reich (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named Most Valuable Player of the Seton Hall Classic after putting up a match-high 16 kills in the Pirates' 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) sweep of Central Connecticut State on Sunday.
A day after a surprising setback against NJIT, the Seton Hall offense took charge against winless Central Connecticut State. The Pirates had a season-high .330 attack percentage and committed only six attack errors.
Reich had a match-high 16 kills, only one attack error, a .455 attack percentage, six digs and two blocks on Sunday. Junior Senna Roberts-Navarro (Honolulu, Hi.) had nine kills, only one attack error, a .348 attack percentage, four kills, four assists and two blocks in a strong all-around contest.

SET 1:
With the score tied at 10, The Hall scored five of the next six points to grab a 15-11 lead and it never looked back. Leading 23-19, A kill by Roberts-Navarro put the Pirates in set point and a CCSU attack error handed the opening set to Seton Hall, 25-19.
SET 2:
The second set was the closest of the match, featuring nine ties and three lead changes, but it was also when the Pirates' offense was most efficient. The Hall had a .390 attack percentage in the second stanza, committing just one attack error. Leading 16-15, the Pirates scored five of the next seven points, and a kill by Daria Safian (Moscow, Russia) put them on top, 21-17. A kill by Alexis Opland (Woodbury, Minn.) put The Hall in set point, 24-19, and a kill by Roberts-Navarro gave it a 25-20 victory.
SET 3:
Seton Hall never trailed in the third set. A kill by Reich gave the Pirates a 2-1 lead early and Seton Hall led for the remainder of the match. Leading 21-19, The Hall scored three of the next four points and a kill by Maddy Loiselle (Tampa, Fla.) put it in match point. Two points later, Asli Subasili (Tekirdag, Turkiye) found the open floor to give the Pirates a 25-21 victory.

The Pirates will return to action tomorrow when they wrap up play at the Seton Hall Classic. The Hall will host Central Connecticut State at 1:00 p.m. ET.
