
Trio of Pirates Finish in Top 20 at Stony Brook Season Opener

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Seton Hall women's cross country opened its season in Stony Brook, NY at the Stony Brook Season Opener today. In their first meet under new Head Coach Jacob Simon, the team placed fourth with 91 total points.
How it Happened
After finishing the 2024 season with five meets as the top Pirate finisher, senior Honey Strosnider picked up where she left off on Long Island this mornign. The Fairfield, Pa. native crossed the line in 11th place overall, also as the first Pirate, with a time of 14:44.40.
After Strosnider, a pair of runners familiar with topping the Pirates' timing charts crossed the finish line. Senior Caitlin Fahy crossed 15th overall, second on the team, with a time of 14:54.60. This result extended her streak of meets finished as a top-three Pirate to six meets. Not far behind Fahy was junior Paige Quigley. Quigley crossed the line 18th overall, third among the Pirates, with a time of 15:02.40.
The final two Pirates' point scorers were Laura Castagna and Destiny Lopez. Castagna, a sophomore, crossed the line with a time of 15:29.70. She finished 26th overall and fourth among Pirate runners, the latter being a career-best mark. Lopez, meanwhile, recorded a time of 15:38.20 and finished 30th overall.

The Pirates will continue their season on Saturday, September 13 when they travel to Montogomery, N.Y. to compete in the Jasper Fall Invitational.
