Paige Shaughnessy Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

NEW YORK – Freshman midfielder Paige Shaughnessy (Fairfield, Conn.) has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Shaughnessy scored a pair of goals, the first two tallies of her career, in Thursday's 3-0 victory over Iona at Owen T. Carroll Field. The freshman's first goal came after perfectly executing a header off a pass from Adria Kitzinger (Ridley Park, Pa.), deflecting it into the upper 90 to put Seton Hall ahead 2-0 at the time. Later in the match, Shaughnessy forced a turnover in Iona's defensive third and scored her second goal of the night to provide the Pirates with some late insurance.
Shaughnessy and the Pirates wrap up their four-game homestand to open the season on Thursday night against Lafayette at 6 p.m.
