2/7/2025 2:39:00 PM | Women's Golf
MELBOURNE, FLA. - The Seton Hall women's golf team will open spring tournament play with three rounds of golf at the Columbia Classic at Duran Golf Club, February 8-9.
Â
Tournament Details:
COLUMBIA CLASSIC
Host:Â Columbia University
Location:Â Melbourne, Fla.
Course:Â Duran Golf Club
Course Vitals:Â Par-72, 6,312 yards
Dates:Â February 8-9, 2025
Â
THE COURSE:
Upon visiting Duran Golf Club, golfers will find rolling terrain — characteristic of a links-style layout — accompanied by mild mounding around the large, undulating greens; sparkling lakes and ponds; sweeping doglegs; native landscaping; grasses and palm trees. Duran is located near the Atlantic Ocean, so the coastal breezes can add great variety to your game here. The par fives can be stout three-shot tests or tempting "go-in-two" holes.
Any golf course can say that it is unique or plays to every skill level, but Duran Golf Club has definitely set itself apart in its ability to appeal to the very talented golfer, as well as the shorter hitters or those still developing their game. Players at Duran are always amazed at the loving care and attention we give to our greens that putt fast and true. You'll also love the quality of our tees, fairways and roughs.
Â
THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Columbia, the field includes 10 other schools:Â Boston U, Dartmouth, Duquesne, Emory, Illinois State, Marshall, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Quinnipiac and Youngstown State.Â
Â
THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
Â
THE LINEUP:
Here's the lineup the Pirates will be bringing to Melbourne…
LAST TIME AT THE COLUMBIA CLASSIC:
Ludovica Busetto fired a 1-under-par, 71, in the final round to lift the Pirates to an eighth-place team finish at the Columbia Classic during the spring of 2023.
Â
Busetto had five birdies and nine pars to vault 20 spots up the individual leader board. She tied for 20th among 80 individual golfers with a 4-over-par, 77-71-148, for the tournament.Â
Â
As a team, the Pirates put forth a third straight strong performance despite less-than-optimal conditions. The second round was canceled due to winds that topped 40 miles an hour at times. Despite the wind, The Hall was actually playing well through 13 holes before the round was canceled. In round three, the Pirates shot a 15-over-par, 303, shaving five strokes off their first-round effort. Seton Hall finished in eighth place, with a 35-over-par, 308-303-611.
THE SCHEDULE:
The teams will play two continuous rounds on Saturday beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's final round will also be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
