NEW YORK, N.Y. – After helping the men's team claim its first-ever Metropolitan Championship title, sophomore Aakash Arumugam (Rockland, Cal.) earned BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
Arumugam has thrived on the course in his sophomore season, finishing as the team's top finisher in the last four meets. At the Metropolitan Championship on Saturday, the Californian produced his best meet of the season at the Branch Brook Park course. By race's end, Arumugam ran his way to a second-place finish overall with a time of 24:29.00. This showing came after the sophomore secured a top 25 finish in a hotly contested field at the Paul Short run.
Seton Hall will race next on Oct. 31 when the Pirates travel to Omaha, Neb., to compete in the BIG EAST Championships.
