MILWAUKEE, WIS. – Graduate student Maddie Klungel (Napa, Calif.) finished one dig shy of a double-double, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell in three sets at Marquette, 3-0 (18-25, 14-25, 19-25) on Sunday.
Â
The Pirates led by three mid-way through the third set, but a 10-2 run for Marquette put them in position to sweep. Today's loss officially eliminates the Pirates from BIG EAST Tournament contention.
Â
Klungel, the reigning BIG EAST Setter of the Week, finished with 17 assists, nine digs and four kills in another strong all-around performance.
Â
Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) and Madison Loiselle (Tampa, Fla.) led The Hall with seven kills apiece.

SET 1:
Seton Hall scored the first point of the match, but then didn't lead again until the third set. A Marquette service error cut The Hall's deficit to 20-16, but the Golden Eagles responded with three straight points to grab a 23-16 lead. A pair of late kills by Lucas staved off the set loss momentarily, but ultimately The Hall fell, 25-18.
Â
SET 2:
Marquette led wire-to-wire in the second set, scoring three of the first four points of the frame. The Hall cut its deficit to 11-7, but the Golden Eagles took off on a 10-2 run to grab a commanding 21-9 advantage. The Pirates hit .000 in the second set, while Marquette had a match-high .406, and the Golden Eagles won set two, 25-14.
Â
SET 3:
The third set was by far the closest of the match, featuring eight ties and four lead changes. Seton Hall grabbed a 16-13 lead in the third set and forced a Marquette timeout. The Golden Eagles, however, regrouped out of the break and went on a 10-2 run to grab a 23-18 advantage. Three points later, Marquette closed out the match with a 25-19 set-three victory.
