
Pirates Notch Pair of Top-Five Team Finishes on Saturday

Newark, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's cross country team took home a pair of top-five team finishes at Branch Brook Park on Saturday. The Pirates took third overall in the Metropolitan Championships on Saturday morning before finishing fifth overall in the afternoon in the Highlander Invitational.
In the Metropolitan Championships, the Pirates placed two runners inside the top-10. Julia Smith (Pittsgrove, N.J.) once again paced the Pirates, taking ninth place overall with a time of 18:18.60. Right behind her was Paige Quigley (Sacramento, Calif.), who rounded out the top-10 with a time of 18:23.60.
Honey Strosnider (Fairfield, Pa.) was the third Pirate to cross the finish line, clocking a time of 18:30.80 which was good enough for 13th overall. Hannah Cullum (San Antonio, Texas) and Kayla Carrino (Lyndhurst, N.J.) rounded out the Pirates' finishers in the morning 5k race, finishing in 19:06.20 and 20:00.50, respectively.
The afternoon saw the Pirates take part in the Highlander Invitational, with Taj Lanier (Lincoln University, Pa.) pacing the Pirates on the 5k course. The junior took 20th overall with a time of 19:47.00, followed closely behind by Amelia Carson (Charleston, S.C.) with a time of 19:55.50. Brianna Peiffer (Missouri City, Texas) was the third Pirate to cross the finish line, doing so with a time of 20:30.50.
Senior Kate Cochran (Sewell, N.J.) was the next Pirate to finish the course, clocking a time of 21:13.40. Behind Cochran were Carling Lockwood (Bemus Point, N.Y.) and Arianna Cucarese (Levittown, Pa.) to round out the Pirate finishers on the day.
Next up, the Pirates head to Van Cortlandt Park to participate in the ECAC Championships on Friday.
