Cripps, Zajdzinski Shine in Setback to Delaware

Newark, Del. – Seton Hall women's swimming and diving fell on the road Saturday at Delaware by a final score of 207-93.
Sierra Cripps (Seymour, Conn.) and Amanda Zajdzinski (Mesa, Ariz.) each had strong days for the Pirates, recording individual victories and multiple top-three finishes. Cripps' win came in the 200 Fly, touching the wall in a time of 2:07.69. She later added a second-place time of 58.10 in the 100 Fly, and helped the 200 Medley Relay team to a third-place finish to start off the meet.
Zajdzinski took the top spot in the 1000 Free to continue her strong campaign. The junior recorded a time of 10:28.17 to win the event for the fourth time this season. Zajdzinski later took second in the 500 Free with a time of 5:12.89. In both events, she finished just ahead of Allie Waggoner (Moorestown, N.J.), who took second in the 1000 Free in 10:31.92 and third in the 500 Free in 5:14.64. Zajdzinski later swam the anchor leg of the 400 Medley Relay team which took second.
Julie Stampe (Allerod-Brikerod, Denmark) and Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.) each picked up a pair of second place finishes on the day. Stampe nabbed second in both the 100 Back and 200 Back with times of 59.06 and 2:06.69, respectively. Heim's runner-up finishes came in the 200 Free with a time of 1:55.84, as well as the 100 Free in 53.06.
Laura Stavila (Oakland, Calif.) claimed third-place for the Pirates in 1-meter diving. The junior posted a total score of 232.35.
The Pirates return to Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium next Saturday at 1 p.m. as they will celebrate Senior Day against Georgetown.
