
Pirates Run at Greyhound Invitational on Saturday

Bethlehem, Pa. -Â The Seton Hall women's cross country team competed at the 2021 Greyhound Invitational hoisted by Moravian College on Saturday. The meet took place at Timothy Breidegam Track & Rocco Calvo Field in Bethlehem, Pa.
In the 5000 meter event Emma Newgarden (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Lauren Ginefra (Budd Lake, N.J.) led the Pirates, picking up a third and fifth place finish, respectively. Newgarden finished in a time of 19:23.60 while Ginefra crossed the finish line in 19:33.64.
Three more Pirates picked up top-5 finishes in the 1500 meter event with Nancy Habib (Clifton, N.J.) pacing the Pirates in a time of 4:58.06 for a second-place finish. Cristina Fernandez (Parsippany, N.J.) took third with a time of 5:06.50 while Abigail Hughes (Staten Island, N.Y.) took fifth crossing in a time of 5:26.62.
Rica Ongsiako (Matawan, N.J.) led the field in the 800 meter event, taking first in a time of 2:32.74. Danielle Becker (Manalapan, N.J.) took sixth with a time of 2:51.89
Rounding out the day for the Pirates was the relay team of Habib, Fernandez, Arianna Braccio (Nashua, N.H.) and Ongsiako who finished the 4x400 Relay in a time of 4:36.37.
The Pirates will continue their spring season next Saturday at the All-American Invitational taking place in East Stroudsburg, Pa,.
