WASHINGTONÂ - The Seton Hall men's basketball team has won four in a row to reclaim the momentum it had been building in late December. Getting to five in a row won't be easy against a resurgent Georgetown team that has won three of its last five games, including a road victory at Creighton.Â
The Pirates are hoping that they can continue some offensive success against the Hoyas. They're averaging over 78 points a game against Georgetown over the last seven meetings and have scored exactly 78 points in each of the last three games. But The Hall also hopes that it can continue to play outstanding defense. The numbers are stark: in January, Seton Hall was allowing 76.3 points per game; in February, the team is only allowing 54.8 points per game.
Although Seton Hall won at least five BIG EAST games in a row as recently as last season, it's a bit of a rarity in program history. If the Pirates defeat the Hoyas on Saturday, it would be only the ninth time in program history:
- 2019-20 - won eight straight BIG EAST games between Dec. 30 and Jan. 29 (Finished 13-5)
- 2008-09 - won five straight BIG EAST games between Jan. 25Â and Feb. 10 (Finished 7-11)
- 2007-08 - won five straight BIG EAST games between Jan. 17 and Jan. 30 (Finished 7-11)
- 2005-06 - won five straight BIG EAST games between Jan. 20 and Feb. 8 (Finished 9-7)
- 2002-03 - won eight straight BIG EAST games between Jan. 29 and March 1 (Finished 10-6)
- 1999-00 - won five straight BIG EAST games between Feb. 1 and Feb. 12 (Finished 10-6)
- 1992-93 - won eight straight BIG EAST games between Feb. 9 and March 6 (Finished 14-4)
- 1991-92 - won five straight BIG EAST games between Feb. 4 and Feb. 17 (Finished 12-6)
