Newark, N.J. - This has been a whacky season for sure, and Seton Hall's has run the gamut in terms of days off between games. To start the season, Seton Hall played six games in 12 days, all while coming off a two-week COVID-19 pause. Now since a Dec. 23 game vs. Georgetown, the Pirates have only played nine games in the last 52 days. Sunday's game against Marquette marks the fourth time that the Pirates have gone six or more days between contests. The results have been mixed; the Pirates soundly defeated Xavier on six days rest, battled Villanova to the final possession on nine days rest and built up a huge lead against Creighton only to lose it on seven days rest.
The latter two instances were rests created by other postponements. This time, the Pirates had a natural bye, and they hope to execute their game plan against a tough Marquette team that is looking to get back in to the win column. And this Marquette team does have three wins at Prudential Center over the last six years.
However, who can forget the last two times Marquette visited Newark?
This tweet won't get the attention it deserves because it's defense.

But, watch Shavar Reynolds Jr. (#33) on defense completely lock down the country's leading scorer, Markus Howard, on this possession. Howard never even gets a touch. Defense wins championships.@SetonHallMBB pic.twitter.com/PFxz8deqo5

Seton Hall will have to neutralize Marquette's budding star center Dawson Garcia, who just posted 28 points at Villanova on Wednesday. And the Pirates have to take care of the basketball against a Golden Eagles squad that generates the fewest opponent turnovers in the BIG EAST.
Sunday's Valentine's Day affair will be nationally televised on FS1 with Kevin Burkhardt and Steve Lavin. It wouldn't be Valentine's Day without a radio date with the best in the business as Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin will be live on AM970, simulcast on XM 391, the Pirate Sports Network and TuneIn.
