WHIPPANY, N.J. – Junior Alyssa Reszkowski (Freehold, N.J.) broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 81st minute as the Seton Hall women's soccer team earned their first victory of the season in their home opener, 1-0, over Lafayette on Thursday.
The victory is also the first in the career for new Seton Hall head coach Ciara Crinion.
The first half was a relatively close affair with the Pirates (1-1) narrowly out-shooting the Leopards (1-2), 6-to-5. The pace picked up mightily however, in the second half with The Hall putting eight shots on goal, compared to just two by Lafayette.
Turning Point:
In the 80th minute, the ball was loose at the top of the box, and after a brief scrum, found the right foot of Reszkowski. The forward then belted the ball past Lafayette's goaltender Natalie Neumann, and into the upper right corner of the goal to give The Hall a 1-0 advantage.
