
The Hall Falls to Texas Tech in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. – Senior Caitlin Koska (Franklin, Wis.) nearly had a double-double and teammate Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) had a team-high 12 kills, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell to Texas Tech in straight sets, 3-0 (14-25, 21-25, 20-25), at The Thunderdome Classic on Saturday.
Koska had 10 kills and a match-high nine digs, while Thelen was tied for a match-high 12 kills to go with a team-best .375 attack percentage.
SET 1:
Texas Tech dominated the Pirates in the first set, recording an impressive .591 attack percentage and only one attack error. The Red Raiders scored five of the first six points and never trailed in the opening frame. The Pirates' deficit methodically grew until Texas Tech eventually claimed a 25-14 victory.
SET 2:
The second set was much closer, but the Pirates still were unable to take a lead. With the score tied at five, Texas Tech scored six of the next eight points to take an 11-7 advantage. The Red Raiders' lead grew to as many as six points at 22-16 before winning the second set, 25-21.
SET 3:
The final set of the match was the closest, featuring seven ties and three lead changes. The early goings were back-and-forth, but a kill by Koska gave The Hall a 14-13 lead. Texas Tech responded with a 6-1 run to take a 19-15 advantage, and never trailed again. The Red Raiders won the third set, 25-20, and the match.
