
Cvelbar, Dolezal Shine in Setback to Oklahoma

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Junior Maggie Cvelbar (Euclid, Ohio) notched her fourth double-double in six matches so far this season, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell to Oklahoma, 3-0 (22-25, 10-25, 20-25), in the Seton Hall Classic finale on Saturday.
Cvelbar collected a team-high 19 assists to go with 16 digs in only three sets. Senior Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) led the Pirates with nine kills. Freshman Eden Dolezal (La Porte, Ind.) had a match-high 23 digs.
SET 1:
The Pirates put forth a strong effort in the first set, but fell short late. Trailing 21-17, The Hall scored five of the next six points, and a kill by Caitlin Koska (Franklin, Wis.) tied the set at 22. Oklahoma regrouped however, and scored the final three points of the set to win, 25-22.
SET 2:
Oklahoma dominated the second set, leading wire-to-wire. The Pirates trailed by as many as 17 at one point in a 25-10 setback. The Hall had a -.077 attack percentage, while the Sooners had a match-high .316 in the second set.
SET 3:
Down two sets, the Pirates showed good effort in the third set and didn't fade until late. A kill by freshman Claire Forrest (Pasadena, Calif.) gave The Hall an 8-7 lead, but OU answered with six of the next eight points to jump ahead, 13-10. Ahead 20-17, Oklahoma scored four of the next five points, to enter set point at 24-18. The Pirates staved off two set points, but ultimately fell in set three, 25-20.

The Pirates will return to action on Friday, September 7 when it begins play at the Thunderdome Classic, in Santa Barbara, California. The Pirates will face Sacred Heart at 3:00 p.m. ET.

- Coffey played in her 99th consecutive match, which leads all active Pirates. She has not missed a match since arriving in South Orange prior to the 2015 season.
- With six kills today, senior Cherise Hennigan (Corona, Calif.) has surpassed the 500-kill milestone for her career.
- Cvelbar's double-double is her fourth of the season and the 11th in her career.
- Dolezal reached the 20-dig mark for the first time in her collegiate career.
