Rutkowski Wins, Pirates Earn Second at Monmouth

Lincroft, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's cross country team finished second out of seven teams on Saturday at the Monmouth Kick-Off behind the efforts of individual champion and senior captain Christiana Rutkowski (Middletown, N.J.).

Rutkowski completed the race in a career-best 4K time of 14:27.7, nearly 10 full seconds ahead of the 76 runner field. Behind her in fourth was fellow senior captain Emily Johnson (Wildwood Crest, N.J.), who crossed the finish line in 14:45.9.

Junior Kiley Britten (Crystal Lake, Ill.) was the third Pirate to finish in the Top-10 after crossing the tape in 15:03.0 for eighth place.

The freshman class had an impressive collegiate debut, as Olivia Hernandez (15:14.8, 16th), Emily Hernandez (15:33.5, 26th), Amanda Ferrara (15:35.1, 26th) and Samantha Dyer (15:39.2, 30th) all finished in the Top-30.

The Pirates will look to carry momentum from an excellent opening race into next weekend's meet at Stony Brook on Saturday, Sept. 9.
