
Pirates Complete Preseason With Win over LIU-Post

South Orange, N.J. - Senior Desi Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a game-high 18 points, and senior Khadeen Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 13 points as the No. 23 Seton Hall men's basketball team finished preseason with a 77-48 win over LIU-Post in an exhibition game Saturday at Walsh Gymnasium.
The Pirates used their significant size advantage to outmuscle LIU-Post in rebounding, 53-28. Freshman Sandro Mamukelashvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) led the Pirates with 13 boards to go with four blocks.
Turning Point
Already holding a nine-point lead in the first half, the Pirates put themselves in a comfortable position with a 10-0 run that began with Rodriguez making a layup and then creating a steal on defense that led to a fastbreak dunk and a 23-10 advantage. It was the first of four Pioneers turnovers during the run that stretched 3:06. Freshman Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) punctuated the run with a pair of three-point field goals in back-to-back possessions to make it a 29-10 lead.
The Pirates went into halftime leading 40-18 and then led by as many as 32 points in the second half.
