Sophia Coffey picked up her first double-double of the year in Seton Hall's first win.
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Sophomore Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif.) notched her first double-double of the season as the Seton Hall women's volleyball team picked up its first victory of the season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-19) victory over Canisius on Saturday morning.

Seton Hall (1-4) dominated the opening frame and set the tone for the rest of the match. With the score tied at five, the Pirates scored five of the next six points to take a 10-6 lead and never trailed again. Ahead 18-13, The Hall ended the set with a 7-0 run to rout the Golden Griffins, 25-13. The Pirates connected on a match-high .325 attack percentage in set one.

Senior Danielle Schroeder (Chicago, Ill.) had six of her 11 kills in the second set and the Pirates never trailed. The Hall scored the first four points and never looked back. The Golden Griffins twice cut the Pirate led to one late in the set, but weren't able to draw even.

Set three was the closest of the match with the teams combining for eight ties and four lead changes, but ultimately the Pirates again came out on top. With the score tied at 13, The Hall went on an 8-1 run to take a commanding 21-14 advantage. The Pirates went on to complete the sweep with a 25-19 set three victory.

Inside the Numbers:
- Schroeder finished with 11 kills, her second straight match reaching double-figures.
- Sophomore Caitlin Koska (Franklin, Wis.) had seven kills and 11 digs.
- Sophomore Cherise Hennigan (Corona, Calif.) matched Schroeder for the team-high with 11 kills.
- Coffey had match-high 24 assists to go with 12 digs.
- Freshmen middle blockers Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif) and Madison Salkowski (Cold Springs, Ky.) both had strong matches. Gasser had a career-high six kills, five digs and a team-best .556 attack percentage. Salkowski had a career-high seven kills.
News & Notes:
- The Pirates have never lost to Canisius, improving to 4-0 all-time against them.
- Seton Hall improves to 1-1 at Walsh Gymnasium this season.
- Coffey's double-double is the 11th of her career, a team-best.
