10/28/2016 2:15:00 PM | Men's Cross Country
Bronx, N.Y. - Sophomore Jarod Moser (Duncanville, Texas) delivered his best 8K run of his young career, leading the Seton Hall men's cross country team at the 2016 BIG EAST Championship at Van Cortlandt Park. Moser finished the race with a time of 26:27.9, good for a 47th place finish as the Pirates finished ninth as a team in the competition. Four of the five scorers for the Pirates delivered season-best 8K times.
Moser's time was three seconds better than his 8K finish at last year's BIG EAST Championship in Mason, Ohio. It's the third time in five races he has scored for The Hall, and it is his second consecutive top finish among his teammates.
Junior Bryant Cordova (Elizabeth, N.J.) placed second among his teammates, the third time this season he's scored for the team, with his time of 27:03.8. He was the team's top finisher at last year's championship race.
In his final BIG EAST Championship, senior Cameron Quisenberry (Owensboro, Ky.) came in less than four seconds behind Cordova with a time of 27:07.0, good for third among the team. A model of consistency, it was his best 8K time of the season and he has scored for the Pirates in all five races he's run. Fellow senior Victor Ricci (Narragansett, R.I.) also had a season-best 8K time at 27:24.3, earning a top-five time among the Pirates for the first time this season.
Sophomore Ricky Stephens (Stony Point, N.Y.) notched his second top-five team finish this season by placing fifth among the Pirates with a season-best 8K time of 27:32.1.
The Pirates will begin preparations for the NCAA Regional Championship Nov. 11 in State College, Pa.
