Pirates Dominate Day One at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team sent a clear message on Friday evening, sweeping all nine events on the first day of a tri-meet against BIG EAST rivals Georgetown and Villanova at the RU Aquatic Center.
A youthful Pirates squad has positioned itself as pne of the strongest teams in the conference in the early going and on Friday, all seven of the squad's individual victories came from underclassmen including a pair from freshman Lior Grubert (Yehud-Monosson, Israel).
The Hall also dominated relay action and will head into the second day of action with significant leads over both the Hoyas and Wildcats. Competition is scheduled to resume on Saturday morning from Rutgers.

- Grubert opened the evening by out-touching teammate Noah Yanchulis (Arnold, Md.) in the 200-free, clocking a time of 1:42.34 that was just ahead of Yanchulis (1:42.70) in second. Grubert later turned in a time of 9:35.35 in the 1,000-free; cruising to another victory with a margin of nearly 12 seconds
- Yanchulis picked up a win of his own in the 200-IM, reaching the wall in 1:54.20. Freshman Ivan Michalovic (Glen Mills, Pa.) placed third in 1:58.69
- Newcomer Dakota Williams (Noank, Conn.) continued to cement himself as one of the conference's top sprinters delivering a first-place time of 21.86 in the 50-free
- Fellow freshman David Rowe (Cherry Hill, N.J.) has been nearly flawless in backstroke events during his debut campaign and on Friday, he registered a time of 50.83 that paced an all-Seton Hall top-three in the event. Keith Carlino (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) clocked in at 50.83 ahead of freshman Chris Tucker (Middletown, N.J.) in third
- Sophomore Matt Zebrowski (Sayreville, N.J.) and freshman Kyle Nash (Katy, Texas) contributed another 1-2 performance in the 100-fly with Zebrowski leading the way with a 1:54.69 mark. Nash was close behind with a time of 1:56.19
- Sean Sali (Bridgewater, N.J.) chipped in another victory in the 100-breast, leading the field with a time of 59.27

- Yanchulis, Williams, Carlino and Grubert got the meet started with a first-place time of 1:25.25 in the 200-free relay
-Rowe, Sali, Grubert and Yanchulis combined for a winning time of 3:26.44 in the 400-medley relay that was over eight seconds faster than their closest competitors from either Georgetown or Villanova. Tucker, Collin Dunn (Litchfield, Conn.), Nash and Tim Bosse (New Windsor, N.Y.) claimed second with a 3:33.14 mark
