
VB Closes Reg. Season with Sweep of Creighton

OMAHA, NEB. - The Seton Hall women's volleyball team closed the 2014 regular season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-16) sweep of the regular season champions, Creighton, for its eighth straight victory on Sunday.
The victory puts a stamp on the Pirates' finest conference season in program history. Seton Hall improves to 27-6 overall and 15-3 in BIG EAST play. The Hall finishes one game behind the Bluejays in the final conference standings. Creighton has its 11-match win streak snapped and finishes the regular season at 16-2 with both losses at the hands of the Pirates.
Seton Hall's 27 overall victories are tied for the second-most in program history. In 1994, the last time Seton Hall made it to the conference semifinals, it won 31 games.
Sophomore Danielle Schroeder (Chicago, Ill.) and junior Molly Grammer (Center Valley, Pa.) led Seton Hall's offense with 10 kills apiece. Schroeder finished with an impressive .529 attack percentage, while Grammer connected at a .381 clip.
Senior Shelbey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) recorded a double-double with a match-high 36 assists to go with 10 digs.
Seton Hall will next play in the 2014 BIG EAST Tournament in Milwaukee, Wis., Nov. 28-29. The Pirates will be the #2 seed and face the hosts, #3 Marquette, at 6:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Creighton, the top seed, will face #4 Xavier on Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET. Both contests will be broadcast by the BIG EAST Digital Network and shown on the Fox Sports Go app. The winners will be play for the BIG EAST Championship, and the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. ET. The title game will be shown live on Fox Sports 2.
