BRONX, N.Y. - It was a fitting end to a successful season for the Seton Hall women's cross country team as freshman Christiana Rutkowski (Middletown, N.J.) and senior Mary Migton (Ledgewood, N.J.) set the pace one more time with a pair of top-20 finishes at the 5K ECAC Championships.
Rutkowski wrapped up a stellar debut campaign in which she led the team in all nine meets with a medal-winning seventh place time of 18:29.6. The Middletown native heads into spring as a key part of an upward trending program that notched landmark accomplishments with its first individual and team victories since its transition to exclusively cross country.
A cornerstone within the program over the last four years, Migton closed her career with her second consecutive top-20 finish at the event, clocking in at 18:53.0 to claim 19th-place. The senior finished 12th at the ECAC Championships to close the 2013 season and finishes her accomplished career with over 30 top-two team finishes.
As a team, the Pirates finished in 14th place in the university division race ahead of Towson, Robert Morris and Colgate.
Sophomore Desyre Blackburn (Aloha, Ore.) continued a two-year stretch in which she has been one of The Hall's most consistent performers, once again ranking third for the blue & white with a time of 20:12.1. Blackburn has scored for the squad in all 18 races in her career.
Freshman Bailey Seach (Winston Salem, N.C.) closed out her first collegiate season with a fourth-place team finish, delivering a time of 21:27.7. Seach is part of an underclassmen group that has re-shaped the scoring contingent throughout the fall and owns seven top-five team finishes after just one season.
Junior Amanda Catherall (Farmingdale, N.Y.) collected the fifth-fastest mark on the squad, crossing the line in 22:08.3 for her third scoring time of the year, finishing just ahead of another Pirate in Allegra Egizi (Beverly, Mass.) (22:15.5).
Migton was joined by fellow senior Felicia Mingrone (Orange, Conn.) in completing her final cross country race for SHU.
The Pirates totaled five top-three finishes as a team in nine meets this fall and will return to competition on the track in the spring.
