
Volleyball Sweeps Canisius, 3-0

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Seton Hall volleyball team kept rolling on Friday morning, taking down Canisius 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17), to improve to 6-1 on the year. The Pirates will face Hartford later this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in their second match of the Carmichael Invitational, hosted by Rhode Island.
Seton Hall dominated the entire way did not trail at any point during the match. The Pirates hit .324 for the contest, and held the Griffins to .065 attack percentage.
Sophomore Stacey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) had her finest performance of the year, recording 16 kills on a .519 attacking clip to go with 11 digs. Junior Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill.) registered 19 digs in the win.
Seton Hall came out like gangbusters in the first set, scoring the first six points and racing out to a 7-1 lead. The Pirates led by as many as 12 points and seized control of the match with a 25-14 set-win. Sekulova led the charge with seven of her kills in the opening stanza.
In set two, SHU used a 6-1 rally to separate from the Griffs (2-6) and take a 13-5 lead. Canisius did attempt to pull to within 20-16, but the early deficit proved to be too much to overcome and the Pirates took a 2-0 match advantage. Stacey Manthorpe was the main target in the second, posting seven kills, while Warren racked up eight digs.
Seton Hall controlled off the bat once again in the third set and completed the sweep with a 25-17 win.
