WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team fell to Monmouth, 3-0, on Friday night. The Pirates had a four-game unbeaten streak snapped and fall to 3-2-1 on the year.
The Hawks struck quickly in the 12th minute after a Kalle Sotka pass connected with Andres Penfold in the box and his shot went in from the far inside post.
Just four minutes later, Sotka converted a Ryan Clark cross to put the Hawks up 2-0 and Joseph Schmid put the finishing touches on the victory in the 33rd minute. RJ Allen assisted on the goal, his second helper of the night.
Sophomore Kevin Bonder (Whippany, N.J.) made five saves in his first start of the season. Sophomore Max Garcia (Jersey City, N.J.) had three shots and had the team's only shot on goal.
Monmouth outshot the Hall 16-11 for the game and had five corners, compared to just three for the Pirates.
SHU returns home to Owen T. Carroll Field to take on #1 Maryland on Tuesday, September 20. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
