PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team fell to Pittsburgh, 2-0, on Saturday night. The loss drops the Pirates to 4-6-2 overall and 0-3-0 in BIG EAST play.
SHU controlled the first half, outshooting the Panthers (4-7-1, 2-1-0) 10-1 in the first half and taking five corners compared to just one for Pitt. However, only two of those shots were on target and the score stayed 0-0 into halftime.
In the 58th minute, Chu Chu Oneukwu wound up on a breakaway. Goalkeeper Michael Kuzan (Union, N.J.) came out to challenge, but Oneukwu got by him and scored the game-winner.
The Panthers tacked on another goal in the 86th minute after Derrick Smith sent a crossing pass to Ryan Brode. Brode quickly fed Terry Akpua, who netted his first goal of the season to secure the victory.
Pittsburgh held a 7-1 advantage on shots in the second half.
Kuzan made three saves in his first appearance of the season.
The Pirates will host Georgetown on Wednesday, October 12, at 7:00 p.m.
