PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Seton Hall men's soccer team dropped its fifth straight decision after a 6-1 loss to Providence on Saturday. The Pirates fell to 4-8-2 overall and 0-5-0 in BIG EAST play.
The Friars (7-5-1, 2-2-1) wasted little time, scoring their first goal in the sixth minute. Greg Davis stole a back pass and dribbled around goalkeeper Mario DeClerico (Maple Shade, N.J.) and scored his third of the season to put Providence up, 1-0.
Providence tacked on a pair of goals before the half after Keith Jecewiz converted on a rebound and Marcos Ugarte scored from point-blank range to put SHU in a 3-0 hole at the intermission.
Despite Max Garcia (Jersey City, N.J.) scoring his team-leading fifth goal of the year just four minutes into the second half, but the Friars scored three more unanswered goals in a 10-minute span to shut the door on the Pirates.
Seton Hall will look to snap its skid on Wednesday, October 19, at Notre Dame. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
