Rev. John J. Outwater

While at Seton Hall, Father John Outwater was a member of the varsity basketball team for four years and was the top scorer and captain his final three seasons. He was also a member of the varsity baseball team for seven years, from 1921–27, having started his baseball career at the University at age 16 while still attending Seton Hall Prep. He was sought after by many Major League teams, but he passed up the opportunity for a career in professional baseball to enter the seminary.
