Melvin J. Dalton

In 1925, Melvin Dalton won the Track & Field Games as a Seton Hall freshman, then finishing undefeated in all cross-country, two mile and other races he entered, including a dual meet against St. Benedict’s Prep on Thanksgiving Day. Indoors, he was first in two-mile events at the 113th Armory Games in New York City; Seton Hall Games at the Newark Armory; Millrose Games in New York; and the New York Athletic Meet. Outdoors, he began preparing for the Olympic Steeplechase and won every 3,000 meter trial held by the Metropolitan A.A. at Governor’s Island. He represented Seton Hall and the U.S. in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
